Biggest Little Paws in Sparks, NV is hiring a Kennel Manager to run our dog daycare and boarding floor. Core schedule is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with additional shifts available.
This is a hands-on leadership job. On your days you run the building: the dogs, the cleaning, the front desk and the clients. You'll be running the floor on your own, with support a phone call away, and as we grow this role grows into managing a team. If you've managed people before and want to do it somewhere with dogs instead of a desk, keep reading.
POSITION DETAILS:
- Pay: $20–$25 per hour depending on experience, plus tips.
- Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch and two paid 15-minute breaks. Extra shifts available.
- Full training provided. You'll report to management.
- Room to grow: This is the first management hire at a growing facility.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Run the daily shift: check-ins, check-outs, feeding, medications and rotations.
- Safely manage play groups and supervise dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
- Keep kennels, play areas and the facility clean and sanitized to our standards.
- Handle the front desk: greet clients, answer phones, book appointments and sell daycare packages.
- Help run our weekly enrichment days (themed activity days for the daycare dogs).
- Follow and enforce safety, cleaning and handling procedures.
- Give management a clear picture of how each day went and flag anything that needs attention.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
You've managed a team or run a shift before, in any industry. Dog daycare, boarding, vet or grooming experience is a plus, not a requirement; we'll train the dog side.
- Confident around dogs of all sizes, and able to stay calm and in control when a group gets loud.
- Comfortable being the person in charge and making decisions without someone looking over your shoulder.
- Reliable and punctual. This role doesn't work if you don't show up.
- Physically up for 12-hour days on your feet: lifting, walking, cleaning, handling 60+ lb dogs.
- Friendly with clients on the phone and at the counter.
We take a balanced approach with the dogs: positive reinforcement first, with fair, appropriate corrections when a dog needs one. If you're strictly positive-only, this won't be the right fit.
Reliability, integrity and good judgment with dogs matter most to us. To apply, submit your resume and current availability through this posting.
